Every child is different, and strategies that help one child may not be effective for another. At Trio Psychological Consultancy Services Ltd., we work with parents and caregivers who are looking for fresh perspectives, practical strategies, and tailored support to help their children navigate their individual and unique challenges.
We offer consultation services for parents and caregivers who would benefit from guidance and personalized recommendations on how to best support the child in their care.
A collaborative, reflective session designed to help you better understand and support the child or youth in your care. Whether you are facing behavioural concerns, emotional difficulties, developmental questions, or broader pressures across settings such as school, home, or periods of transition, these sessions are meant to offer clarity and understanding, not criticism.
This support is tailored specifically for parents and caregivers. It provides practical, professional guidance grounded in psychology and delivered with empathy, respect, and no judgment.
Parents or caregivers who feel overwhelmed or uncertain about how best to support a child in their care, including foster or kinship arrangements. Caregivers who are navigating complex relational or developmental needs. Parents or caregivers seeking guidance in understanding and working within systems that affect their child, such as school.
You do not need to be in crisis to seek support. These sessions are for anyone who wants to be more confident and effective in supporting the child in their life.
Parents/caregivers can choose the session length that best fits their needs (i.e., a standard session is scheduled for 50-minutes). Shorter sessions (i.e., 30-minutes) may be suitable for brief updates or check-ins, while longer sessions allow for more in-depth discussion or planning. If you're unsure which option is right for you, Dr. Frost can help guide this decision.
Dr. Frost provides specialized psychological and neuropsychological assessments to individuals of all ages to inform diagnosis and treatment planning.
The assessment journey typically involves an initial consultation, testing sessions, and a comprehensive feedback meeting where findings and recommendations are discussed in detail.
Depending on the referral question, the assessment process may vary case-by-case.
Initial contact and brief screening to determine appropriate assessment.
A clinical interview with client and/or caregivers to gather background information, including developmental history, family dynamics, mental health history, medical history, school performance, and social relationships.
Structured assessment sessions using validated psychological measures. Typically conducted over 2-3 testing sessions, depending on the presenting concern and client needs.
Input from family members, teachers, doctors/pediatricians, or other relevant professionals to ensure a holistic view of the person's needs and functioning across different settings.
Interpretation of results and report preparation (typically 2-3 weeks). Timelines can vary depending on the type of assessment.
Detailed discussion of findings and personalised recommendations. Recommendations may include therapy, educational supports, behavioral strategies, or referrals to additional specialists as needed.

Even if you are currently completing your undergraduate degree and exploring graduate school options in psychology, Dr. Frost is happy to provide guidance in this area.
The first session is a chance for us to begin getting to know one another in a supportive, confidential space. We’ll talk about what has brought you to therapy, the challenges you’re currently facing, and what you would like help with.
I may ask about different areas of your life, such as your emotional wellbeing, relationships, personal history, and any previous counselling or therapy experiences. This helps me better understand your situation and how I can best support you.
You’re also welcome to ask questions about how I work and what the therapy process may look like. Most importantly, the first session is about helping you feel heard, understood, and comfortable as we begin.
There is no expectation to have everything figured out before you come in, and you do not need to share more than you feel ready to discuss. It is completely normal not to have everything resolved in the first session. Meaningful change often takes time, and our initial meeting is about building understanding, identifying priorities, and beginning the work together at a manageable pace.
My approach to psychotherapy is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while integrating trauma-informed, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and multicultural-relational approaches, making it well-suited to the unique experiences and developmental needs of clients.
My work with individuals and families of diverse backgrounds has taught me to build a solid therapeutic alliance and create a supportive environment to promote growth and healing. I am always grateful to be a small part of that journey.
For therapy, while not mandatory in any way, many clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum, and then adjust to biweekly or monthly as progress is made. We’ll collaborate to find a rhythm that works best for you, based on your needs.
Most local insurance companies offer coverage for psychological therapy services, with varying coverage amounts. Please contact your specific insurer for coverage details or review your respective policy documents. Once covered, services are paid up-front and clients can bring claim forms at the time of services to be completed and submit to their insurer.
Payments can be made by cash or bank transfer, at the time of service.
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. To help ensure availability for all clients and to maintain the quality and sustainability of the practice, I kindly ask that any cancellations or rescheduling requests be made at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to the full session fee. However, I understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can arise, and these situations are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Because psychological assessments and testing services require substantial preparation and dedicated scheduling blocks, a minimum of 48 hours' notice is required for cancellation or rescheduling of assessment appointments.
Full details regarding fees, cancellations, and practice policies are outlined in the informed consent and practice agreement documents reviewed and signed prior to the commencement of services.
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience as each person brings their unique concerns therefore, the duration varies based on individual needs. Some clients benefit from 8-10 sessions, while others may require longer-term support. Dr. Frost will collaboratively discuss recommendations at your initial assessment to do what is feasible for all parties involved. Client feedback is respected and highly encouraged.
I recognize that individuals and families involved in legal proceedings are often navigating significant stress, uncertainty, and complex personal circumstances. To ensure that I can maintain a clear therapeutic role and uphold ethical standards of practice, I do not take on clients that are currently before the courts or provide opinions intended for ongoing legal proceedings.
My practice is dedicated to clinical care, personal growth, and psychological well-being rather than forensic or legal services. When court-related psychological services are needed, I encourage clients to work with a professional whose practice is specifically designed for forensic and legal matters. I'm happy to provide referrals to trusted colleagues that can potentially accommodate these requests.

Psychological assessments are essential tools for diagnosing mental health conditions, cognitive impairments, and learning challenges, offering clarity that can significantly improve quality of life. It is a structured assessment conducted by a licensed psychologist to identify conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or learning disabilities. It typically involves:
These assessments inform treatment plans, secure accommodations (e.g., at school or work), inform legal proceedings, or provide deeper self-insight.
A Licensed Psychologist is a type of mental health professional who has completed a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical, counselling, or school psychology, extensive supervised clinical training (3000+ hours in clinical practica, 2000 hours during internship, and 2000 hours during postdoctoral fellowship), has passed relevant law and ethics exams, and has passed a national licensing exam.
This licensure means the psychologist is legally recognized by their jurisdiction, and the title of 'psychologist' is protected under law, to provide psychological assessments, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapy.
Licensed psychologists are trained to help people understand and manage emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges using scientifically supported approaches. They adhere to strict ethical standards and maintain ongoing education to ensure the highest level of care.
Psychiatrists and psychologists are both professionals who specialize in the field of mental health, but they differ in terms of education, training, and practice (Sievert, 2023; UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine).
On the other hand...
A psychologist is a licensed mental health professional with an accredited graduate degree, extensive supervised clinical training, and legally regulated credentials. Psychologists use evidence-based, scientifically validated methods to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health concerns. Their work is guided by professional ethics codes, licensing boards, and continuing-education requirements to ensure safe, effective, and accountable care.
A life coach, by contrast, is not a regulated profession. Anyone can call themselves a life coach or coach in general, regardless of education or training. While some coaches pursue certification programs, these are not governed by state or national licensing bodies, and their methods vary widely. Life coaching typically focuses on motivation, goal-setting, and general personal development, but coaches are not trained or qualified to diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and their approaches are not required to be supported by scientific research. There is utility in coaching, once guided by ethical standards and evidence-based or evidence-informed approaches.
I most certainly do! Whether you are pursuing your undergraduate degree and looking to gain insight into the field, or exploring options for graduate school and training, please feel free to reach out via email with details of your request and we can arrange a consultation meeting.
